Scope and content:

The bulk of the Daniel O'Connell Papers span the period from 1933-1939 and primarily contains documents relating to his personal and family life. The collection is arranged in three sections: a file of correspondence (containing a single letter); files of invoices and receipts; and a file of miscellaneous material. Non-invoice material was separated out and arranged alphabetically by the vendor.

Biographical / historical:

Daniel P. O'Connell (1885-1977) was a leader of the Albany County Democratic party from 1919 to his death. O'Connell controlled Albany's political and governmental affairs for more than fifty years. The legendary O'Connell political machine was the longest lasting in the United States.
