Scope and content:

This collection consists of inactive records of University at Albany's Art Department including: Includes program proposals, annual reports, 1968-69, 1971-72, 1977-78; departmental meeting minutes, 1972; and photograph albums, Art Gallery exhibition catalogs and flyers, 1954-78.

Biographical / historical:

The University at Albany's created the Art Department in 1909 as the Department of Fine Arts, the current name was adopted in 1935. The department's mission is to train artists and art historians as well as providing education for students with broad interests in the humanities.

All items in this manuscript group were transferred to the University Libraries, M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives.
