Overall, the collection provides a representative sample of sheet music publishing practices in European markets during the 19th century as well as lithographic art and some of the extra-musical topics treated as subjects for music during the period. Very few of the works bear copyright or publisher dates. As a result, dates have been supplied from various sources or estimated.
