This collection contains images of Kertscher & Company employees, buildings, and products.

Biographical / historical:

Kertscher & Company, a cabinet and furniture manufacturer, was founded in 1899. Its president was Edward Kertscher, its vice-president was Theodore Markthaler, and treasurer was Theodore Kertscher. Initially, the company's factory was located at 108 Reformatory Road, but in the years between 1899 and 1907 the company expanded to take over the whole block. In 1907, the factory moved to 100-110 Thurston Road. They remained there until the company went out of business in 1938.

The items in this collection were donated to the Booth Library by Michael Manzari in 2004.

Restrictions:

The Chemung County Historical Society's research library and archives are open to the public from 1pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday. There is a $5 fee for non-members.
