The Hobbies/ Sports/ Recreation collection contains sporting event programs as well as materials associated with various hobbies, area parks, and recreational activities. This includes a large collection of programs associated with the Elmira Pioneers baseball team.
- Biographical / historical:

Elmira and Chemung County have been home to various professional and amateur athletic teams and leagues. The Elmira Pioneers played as a farm team for various franchises in the Eastern League from 1938 to 1996. From 1996 to 2006, they played in the independent Northeast League. They are currently a collegiate summer team playing in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League. The Elmira Jackals were a professional minor league ice hockey team based out of Elmira from 2000-2017.

The Chemung County Historical Society's research library and archives are open to the public from 1pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday. There is a $5 fee for non-members.
