It also includes other instructional books for drawing and sewing.

The Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences was founded February 29, 1916 in Scranton, Pennsylvania as a correspondence college for sewing, dress-making, and cooking. The Institute's founder and director of instruction was Mary Brooks Picken. The Institute offered various correspondence courses, clothing patterns, domestic merchandise and a monthly newsletter, called Inspiration. Dorothy B. Little became a member in 1923.
