Background

Scope and content:

The Chemung County Chamber of Commerce was known as the Elmira Chamber of Commerce when it began in 1907. The name changed at several points, first to the Elmira Association of Commerce and then, finally, to its current name. The mission of the Chamber of Commerce is to promote area businesses through lobbying, business and tourism promotion, economic development, business education, and other programing.

Restrictions:

The Chemung County Historical Society's research library and archives are open to the public from 1pm to 5pm, Monday through Friday. There is a $5 fee for non-members.
