Biographical / historical:

The National Women’s Christian Temperance Union was organized in 1874 to endorse prohibition and promote Christian beliefs. By the beginning of the 20th century of WCTU expanded their objectives and added the Women’s vote issue to their agenda. From the 1940’s to the 1970’s the WCTU focused their energies upon helping those with chemical dependencies and education the young on Christian morals.
