Biographical / historical:

The Cosmopolitan Club of Rochester formed in 1943 as an organization to bring together foreign-born students and residents of Rochester in socio-cultural exchange. It was an intiative of the Rochester YWCA, led by Rosina Martella and meeting at the home of Mrs. F. Harper Sibley. The organization hosted a Festival of Nations in 1950. Regular meetings included holiday celebrations, dinners and lectures on cultural matters and foreign affairs. The club survived into the 1960s, by which time it was meeting at the Cutler Union of the University of Rochester. While the exact date of dissolution has not been identified, the final newspaper references to meetings of the club were printed in 1969.
