This collection consists of family photographs showing and postcards exchanged between members of the Riley family of Oshawa, Ontario and Rochester, New York. It consists of postcards, greeting cards and photographs. The postcards mostly consist of correspondence between Mary (Riley) James and her sister, Rose Riley. The family photographs depict members of two generations across both the Riley and James families.
- Biographical / historical:

Mary (Riley) James was born in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada to Joseph and Rose Riley in 1900. She spent her life there, marrying Leslie Roy James in 1923. Leslie was a veteran of the Canadian Army Corps in the First World War, and this collection includes a photograph of him in uniform. Mary's sister, Rose (born 1893), was the primary correspondent in the postcards contained in this collection. Other members of the family represented here include:

John Henry James - son of Mary and Leslie, father of the donor
Lesley (Riley) Maguire - aunt of the donor
