Scope and content:

This collection consists of a representative sample of late 20th and early 21st century Frederick Douglass memorabilia, collected by Mr. Al-Farabi Ishaq of Washington, D.C. The materials consist of four postal first day covers and four Douglass quarters. They date between 1967 and 2020.

Biographical / historical:

Al-Farabi Ishaq is a former Washington, D.C. social worker and collector of African-American historical memorabilia. He visited Rochester, New York for the dedication of a historical marker in front of Frederick Douglass' Hamilton Street home, and gifted his personal collection of Douglass memorabilia to the Rochester Public Library at that time.

Physical description:
First day covers are excellent, like-new objects. Two of the quarters are uncirculated specimens from the Denver and San Francisco mints; the other two are high-grade circulated coins, both from the Philadelphia mint.
