The collection contains photocopies of articles, advertisements, photographs, family trees, and family tales all contained in several notebooks. The notebooks are titled: Ellsworth’s , Lewis Ellsworth Branch,1828-1992 Ellsworth Family in Saratoga Methodist Church Ellsworth Family History Looking at Saratoga Through the Eyes of The Ellsworths, 1826-2003 The Grippin Boys Ellsworth- Grippin Groceries, 1849-1963 The Ellsworth Boys

Biographical / historical:

The Ellsworth Family first appears in Saratoga County in 1824. Through the years the family spread throughout the county with many members settling in Saratoga Springs. The family operated several businesses over the years and some members held public office, as well.

The land that the Saratoga Springs Public Library was built on was owned by Lewis Ellsworth who built a 5 apartment row house on the site in 1874.
