The papers of Abby Aldrich Rockefeller primarily consist of correspondence, including personal correspondence to family and relatives, biographical materials; art collection files, and files pertaining to her philanthropic activities.

The Ford Foundation's Catalogued Reports collection includes policy and programming documents, program evaluations, and periodic program status reports produced by Foundation officers and staff, as well as consultants and grantees. Some published material produced by Ford Foundation grants is also included in the collection. The collection also includes some of the Ford Foundation's own publications, such as the Annual Reports and newsletters.

The collection documents all aspects of the Downtown-Lower Manhattan Association's activities from its creation, with the consolidation of the Downtown Manhattan Association and the Committee on Lower Manhattan in 1958, through its most active and successful years of 1958-1974, through the mid-1990s with its participation in the Lower Manhattan Project and its resulting updated Lower Manhattan Plan, and the role played by the DLMA as the supporting organization for Lower Manhattan's Business Improvement District (BID), the Alliance for Downtown New York. The material encompasses the meeting records of the Board of Directors, Members, Executive Committee, Planning Committee, and other prominent committees, a limited selection of officers files, financial records, membership records, projects, DLMA publications, and reports and studies.

The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, reports, publications, minutes, dockets, photographs, tape recordings, and films. The collection was created by the IBEC files department, and many documents contain department seals and marginal notes in pencil.

This series contains a portion of Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller's political correspondence on state and national issues. The correspondence reflects his role as a national political figure and was filed separately from correspondence generated while serving as Governor of New York.

This general correspondence file offers extensive documentation on Nelson Rockefeller's business, civic, governmental, philanthropic, cultural, and social activities. Major files cover Dartmouth College's Committee on Economic Development, the Council for Inter-American Cooperation, the Council on Foreign Relations, the Institute for International Social Research, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Museum of Primitive Art (MoPA) founded by Rockefeller, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Pan-American Union (Organization of the American States), Rockefeller Center, the United Jewish Appeal, the United Nations, the U.S. government, the Victory Clothing Drive for Overseas Relief, and the Westchester County Board of Health.

This speech file was maintained by Hugh Morrow, Nelson Rockefeller's press secretary. Mr. Morrow was a speech writer for Mr. Rockefeller during his first term as Governor of New York and became his press secretary beginning with his second term in 1963. Mr. Morrow continued to serve with Mr. Rockefeller through his years as Governor, his tenure as U.S. Vice President, and his years as a private citizen before and after the Vice Presidency.

This series is made up of Nelson A. Rockefeller's personal copies of correspondence, reports, and other documents gathered during his service in the federal government in ten presidential appointments between 1940 and 1969. All manner of documents can be found in these files, from handwritten notes to printed reports. Marginal notes found in Rockefeller's handwriting are not uncommon. These records both duplicate and complement official government records held in the National Archives and in presidential libraries.

The Business Interest series documents the Rockefeller Family's investments and financial involvement in a variety of industries, companies, and geographic areas, including banks, oil, iron mining, timber, railroads, Rockefeller Center, and South America.
