The Student Life collection (MC50) is an artificial collection created by the archives. The collection covers activities initiated by students, participated in by students or existing for the benefit of students at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As student activities are ongoing, the collection is always being updated. The earliest items in the collection date back to 1865; however the majority of the collection dates from the 1960s to the present. The material is categorized into series for ease of access. Within each series the material is arranged alphabetically; within each folder the material is arranged chronologically whenever possible. There is also one box containing oversized items.

The contents of the records convey the foundation of the Rensselaer Society of Engineers (RSE) whose roots derive from the Pi Eta Scientific Society, founded in 1866. This collection contains a copy of the 1867 minute book (obtained by Samuel Rezneck in 1968). Membership directories, the 75th Anniversary Register, and invitation memorabilia highlight the society's social life. The substantial portion of scientific papers make up the bulk of this collection.

The Women's Club of R.P.I. records (AC 5) consist of minutes, bylaws, treasurer's records, membership lists, a short history of the club, member handbooks, programs, flyers, clippings, RPI faculty/staff directories, and files on theclub's activities, including records on a bowling league, international students, black students, scholarships, a fiftieth anniversary celebration, formal teas (referred to as the 'Silver Saga'), and other special projects or events sponsored by the Women's Club of R.P.I.
